Getting cut out of Mom and Dad's will
by journey-on inhave any of you experienced this yet....being cut out of your jw mom and dad's will?
i posted the following on another thread.
because of one instance that i heard about last year from a friend of mine, i am concerned that this may be something the society is encouraging and may encourage even more as the new private issue of the wt begins to be released.

My mom married an elder last November. This is his third marriage. His first two wives passed away.
The second marriage lasted only 16 months yet he got all her assets, including treasured momentos. I realize that the spouse gets everything but I doubt that we will inherit much. His only witness son and the Org will most likely get most of it.
He has six sons but my mother told me that only four of his sons and her four children will inherit their combined assets. She said that they are drawing up wills but nothing has been mentioned about what the second wife's three children will get. When I asked her if this was fair she said that it was none of her business. As long as it leans favourably for her she will not comment. For me it's no so much about the money. They have a right to blow it on themselves if they so wished. It's the fact that someone else may get what my father and the father of the second family worked all their lives for.

Shane Bernier want to break a world record. He is a seven-year old boy from a small Eastern Ontario town who has acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He turns 8 May 30 and his wish for his birthday, during which he will likely be in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy, is to break a world record for the most birthday cards. To do this he must collect more that 3.5 million.

Sincere Question to Anyone who Believes in God
by Big Tex inlately it's occurred to me that one day i will die.
being raised in a cult that teaches you, you will live forever without dying will warp perspectives.
and i've been working hard on coming to terms with that realization, and it's becoming more and more okay.

Big Tex: I wrote this late last night but am just now sending it.
For what it’s worth.
I hope I didn’t appear flippant in my last post. I was responding to what Mouthy said. I believe in God so my posts are going to reflect that.
I wasn’t hurt by your response. I know you question what you went through and you don’t understand, if there is a God, why He hasn’t answered you. As I’ve stated before, I do believe that He did answer you in part through your wife. I wouldn’t minimize that.
Some things that happen to people are so horrendous, (especially towards the vulnerable-like the young) and there is no reason for it, except that there is sin. Obviously some people are very disturbed and never should have children.
I’ve prayed about certain things, begging God, but nothing happened. Is it that we did get an answer but we can’t see it? I’m just starting to realize, that the thing that annoys me in my life was actually something that protected me, but I was too dense to see it.
I have been angry with God. I’ve asked Him why did some things have to happen to me. For a time I wished He would take my life because it became too unbearable for me. I’d question Him. I didn’t ask to be born; I had no choice in the matter. Did I need to learn empathy, patience, trust? What harsh lessons.
To protect ourselves we put up barriers but these same barriers can also block out the good things in life. It can affect our relationships with people and with God. They love us but we may not feel it.
I do believe that God is holy and that love and hate don’t mix. Maybe as long as we harbour anger and hatred we block ourselves off from a relationship with God.
To forgive is so unnatural for us, especially when the wound is very deep. We want justice, revenge, but all it does is hurt us and we continue to be the victim. I have to be honest. It’s almost impossible to forgive someone who has hurt you deeply. At this level it doesn’t happen overnight. I think it’s a long process but I think with Gods’ grace it can be done.
Nina thinks I make things more difficult than they need to be; maybe she's right.
I think that Nina might be right. I envy people that take life, faith with ease. Why do some people go through life carefree and others needing to know all the answers?

"He never enters our life unless we invite HIM....He gave us complete freedom.
I'm reminded of the painting where Jesus is knocking on the door. There is a handle on only one side of the door; His side doesn't have a handle-He wants us to open it. God respects our decision and unless we ask, He won't interfere.
Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. Gen 1:26-27
God gave man dominion over the earth. When He did that He took away His right to legally influence and interfere on the earth. Because of His integrity and commitment, He will never violate or break that word. He's obligated to obey His own word.

Hi BT please listen to me. I just got out of bed and turned on the computer just for you, because you are worth it.
God did hear your cry; he sent you a wonderful woman. Please embrace all the good things in your life.I've been married for 24 years to a wonderful woman, who has been far more patient and understanding with my irritating and whiny bullshit

Refuting a JW, "But we follow the bible" - Matthew 24:45
by jgnat inrecently i saw a post from a jw who challenged his opposers to find anything wrong with the witnesses, "we follow the bible.
" i say there's following the bible and then there's understanding, isn't there?
can we say that someone is following the bible if the verse is taken out of context or stretched to justify all kinds of behavior?

Education shows you how to think. Propaganda tells you what to think. (who said that line anyway?)
When a Jehovah Witness claims that they follow the bible, one must ask which bible. I don’t think many JW’s realize that the NWT is very different from other bibles.
The person is to attend all meetings, read the literature, and go out in field service. ....to read his Word daily, attend our Christian meetings regularly, and have a meaningful share in preaching the "good news of the kingdom."
The JW way to salvation is by doing works and God has clearly stated that it’s not by works that we are saved but by grace.
You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life
. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life. John 5:39Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. But now a righteousness comes from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:20-24
The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" Galatians 2:20-21
What must we do to do the works God requires? Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent. John 6:28
You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ and have fallen away from the grace. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love" - Galatians 5:4-6
Such literature deals with family life, customs, religion, science, and many other subjects. Most important, it contains Scriptural counsel on spiritual matters.
One gets the impression that only Jehovah Witnesses teach their members how to live their lives.
If you were to consult a doctor, would you not listen attentively and make sure that you understood all that he was saying or prescribing? No doubt you would, for your health is at stake.
When the witnesses came a couple of weeks ago I asked why the NWT translators were not mentioned. I felt that if I were to go to a doctor I would want to know his name and credentials? No comment.
helped the eunuch to understand the prophecy of Isaiah
Wasn’t the eunuch immediately baptized when he understood? Philip was directed by the Holy Spirit. We all can be directed by the HS. We don’t need any Org to represent us.
a mature Christian must be in unity and full harmony with fellow believers as far as faith and knowledge are concerned. He does not advocate or insist on personal opinions or harbor private ideas when it comes to Bible understanding. Rather, he has complete confidence in the truth as it is revealed by Jehovah God through his Son, Jesus Christ,
I think there should be an overall unity and I do believe that the truth is revealed by God through his Son, Jesus Christ. At the same time I'm not going to accept everything a pastor or teacher tells me, and they will tell me themselves, don't just accept everything we tell you. Look into it yourself. Just because the Org says that they are the only truth doesn’t make it so. We do dilligently need to find out for selves; not take somebody’s word for it.
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." John 14:6-7
As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit - just as it has taught you, remain in him. 1 John 2:27
"For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with healthful teaching, but in accord with their own desires accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled." 2 Timothy 43
Jesus answered: Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, I am the Christ and will deceive many. Math 24:4-5
"the faithful and discreet slave."
I don’t believe that the GB is the faithful and discreet slave. Just because they say so doesn't make it true. I think, as the body of Christ, we all receive gifts. One part of the body can't survive without the other parts.
Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone to win as many as possible. 1 Cor 9:19
"so then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Romans 14:12
No one represents us here on earth; only Jesus represents us as our Mediator.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ. 1 Tim 2:5
and I will end it with...
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administrating God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:8&10

what if there really is a God -- a Power Greater than myself?
who has kept track of every misdeed, every misstep, every error, every "incorrect" thought I've ever had in my miserable and pointless life;
The wages of sin is death, all sin. For us some sins are worse than others, but to God all sin separates us from Him. But Jesus came and died for all, that when we believe and trust in Him we will have eternal life. So I don’t believe that God has a score card. By grace we are saved; we cannot save ourselves no matter how much we do. That for me is very comforting; that I don’t have to do back-flips to please Him. I’m too old for that anyway (back-flips)
I see the afterlife, if there is one, as being even more grim than this life.
I believe in an afterlife that will be wonderful, too wonderful to really imagine. The bible says that there will be no more pain, hunger, tears, no more suffering.
I think we sometimes get glimpses here on earth what it will be like. The feeling you get when you see a happy baby laughing, really good music, a bird chirping, a beautiful sunny day, a sunset, when you really connect with a person, even for a moment, these are cherished moments.
Think of moments in your life that were wonderful, even if for a moment, that feeling of utter contentment, it may be just a fleeting moment. I think eternal life will be like that but amplified, and continual not sporadic. Utter bliss that’s how I see it. The music will be more wonderful, the flowers will be more fragrant, more beautiful,(can’t imagine-brings me to the song-link below for anyone interested), tastes, smell, colours.

I imagine Beethoven conducting the orchestra (he can now hear & he’s not cantankerous), the music is playing and then the people start singing Ode to Joy. What a glorious thing that would be. For someone else it will be a different fantasy. Just imagining here. Because we’re all so different will we have different experiences? To see family members that have passed on. Will I converse with the likes of Beethoven. Isaac Newton, John Newton, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Einstein, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Mother Theresa, even Elvis Presley
I haven't read most of the replies but am looking forward to it tonight.

by juni inand i say thank god that this abhorrent practice is not legal any longer.. i don't feel rowe vs. wade (the right of a women to an abortion) should be banned, but definitely partial birth abortions should be.. am i for willy nilly abortion?
but if there were ever a situation say a woman's health was in jeapordy i feel she should have the right to a legal ending of her pregnancy.. for those that choose abortion as a means of birth control or some other lame reason, i believe that is wrong.. how do you feel?.

First, I don't want to condemn anyone on this site that may have had an abortion. I know that this is a very sensitive subject and I don't want to hurt anyone that has a different take on it but I do think we need to be informed so we make the right decisions, not just for ourselves, but for those who can't speak for themselves. I, for one, am thankful that partial birth abortions are banned. The procedure is barbaric, and in my mind it is murder. I’m not talking as a Christian; I’m talking as a woman, as a mother, as a human being. Are we not a civilized society? Why is there such an assault on the young, who can’t defend themselves? (Abortion, embroyonic stem cell research, sex trade, pedophelia) Do they not have a choice? My understanding is that most of these abortions are not performed because of risk to the mother. Does a woman ever really get over it? Suppose a woman chooses the partial birth abortion to rid her unborn child. Before the procedure she goes into labour and gives birth. What does she do then? What is the difference between the head exposed or the head still inside the mother? It is a human being.
I wonder if the baby is sedated during this prodecure. I have heard horror stories that the child squirms and does feel intense pain. This site seems to verify that the baby does feel the pain. Now maybe the baby feels severe pain if they don't get a sedative or pain killer but they don't seem to state that. I can't imagine a doctor not giving pain killers to the unborn.
http://abortiontv.com/Methods/PartiaBirthAbortionPerspective.htm
http://www.abortionhome.com/partialbirthabortion/ Berkeley, CA (LifeNews.com) -- A new report from researchers at the University of California says unborn children do not likely feel the pain of abortions during the earlier parts of a woman's pregnancy. The findings are coming under fire from doctors who specialize in fetal development and they say it's off the mark. ... Dr. Anand said other medical studies conclude that unborn babies are "very likely" to be "extremely sensitive to pain during the gestation of 20 to 30 weeks." "This is based on multiple lines of evidence," Dr. Anand said. "Not just the lack of descending inhibitory fibers, but also the number of receptors in the skin, the level of expression of various chemicals, neurotransmitters, receptors, and things like that." Anand explained that later-term abortion procedures, such as a partial-birth abortion "would be likely to cause severe pain."
I know Embroyonic Stem Cell research is a separate subject, but is it really. It again is assaulting the unborn. Is it not true that adult stem cells are being used sucessfully.
